Often confused with Boy Mondragon ("Rain gently falls..."), Efren Montes was a child star in the Seventies who, according to one of many trivia listings that are forwarded via email, remade the song "Kiss Me, Kiss Me." As a child actor, Efren was a regular in Channel 9's family sitcom Padre de Pamilya, whose cast was headed by then Tisoy lead, now radio commentator, Jimmy Morato.

Later, Efren would attend a training school for music and in 1981, join his first band, The Amicables. His singing career brought him around the Philippines and gigs in Guam, Bahrain, Saipan, Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong. He joined touring bands like A-Live in 1993 and Chorus Gold in 1996. He also produced videokes.

Gómez Rivera's journalism career started with the magazine El maestro during the 1960s. Its goal was to aid Filipino teachers in Spanish in the practice of their profession. Aside from being the current editor of Nueva era, he also edits two other weeklies: The Listening Post and The Tagalog Chronicle. In 1997, he worked on television as a segment host of ABS-CBN's now defunct early morning program Alas Singko Y Medya, presenting a five-minute Spanish lesson. Gómez Rivera released an LP back in 1960 when he was producing La voz hispanofilipina, a radio program on DZRH. It was a product of his research on a number of "lost" Filipino songs sung in Spanish during the Spanish colonial era. He reintroduced the songs through the LP entitled Nostalgia filipina, where his vocal interpretation is accompanied by a rondalla. Digitally remastered with funding from the Spanish Program for Cultural Cooperation, the LP was reissued and launched at Instituto Cervantes de Manila on August 14, 2006.

Basil Salvador Valdez (born November 8, 1951) is a Filipino balladeer. He has received several Tinig Awards and the 1991 Tanglaw ng Lahi Award from Ateneo de Manila University.

Like many Filipino singers in the 1970s, Basil S. Valdez started on a solo career as a folk singer. In 1972, he joined the Circus Band and soon after it disbanded, he released his first solo album entitled Ngayon at Kailanman. While in the Circus Band, he met Ryan Cayabyab, who was then part of another band. When Valdez was preparing tracks for the album Ngayon at Kailanman, he asked Cayabyab to collaborate with and write a few songs for him, which the composer did. Cayabyab then became Valdez's musical director for 27 years. In the 80's, Valdez re-invented himself as a singer of movie theme songs. Among the most memorable were "Paano Ba Ang Mangarap," "Muling Buksan Ang Puso" and "Paraisong Parisukat."
