In 2001, Philippine rock band Brain Salad released Brain Salad. The album and band are one-off projects. Brain Salad comprises performers from two Sony Music Entertainment Philippines bands -- Wolfgang and Razorback -- both of which are among the country's most popular and top-selling rock bands. The album is acoustic-based, although the electric guitar is also heard in parts, along with organ and percussion. The members of Brain Salad include the much-respected vocalist, Basti Artadi, of Wolfgang, and the drummer, bassist, and one guitarist from Razorback. Other musicians and singers also lend their talents to various songs, including other musicians from Wolfgang and Razorback. The concept sounds exciting, but ultimately falls short of its potential. The opening, "Concept Human," sounds like an inferior outtake from a Wolfgang album, most particularly 1999's Atomica. The song offers nothing new and sounds like a reprise of other Wolfgang songs. The smart saxophone fills heard here don't help matters. Things improve somewhat on "Inches," despite the fact that the melody and a large part of the arrangement remain derivative, but the imaginative slide and electric guitar and organ work offer fine moments. Still, there is the unsettling feeling that this has been heard before. The album lacks excitement, and a number of songs -- including "2-1," "Bulong Mo Sa Dilim" (You Whisper It in the Dark), and "Island Under Siege," among others -- seem long and drawn out. It appears as though Wolfgang and Razorback are rehashing ideas heard earlier on their respective albums. One of the few songs worth paying attention to is "Only Me," which is steeped in American Southern rock. While this genre has been extensively explored by Razorback on previous albums, this song sounds fresh and exciting. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for most of Brain Salad.

Yvette Barbra Hontiveros Almalbis-Honasan (born August 26, 1977), better known as Barbie Almalbis, is a Filipino singer-songwriter.

Formerly the lead singer of the bands Hungry Young Poets and Barbie's Cradle, she pursued a solo career in 2005, releasing her self-titled compilation album, Barbie: The Singles.

In 2006, she released her debut solo album, Parade. Her music is characterized by a rather quirky, but endearing vocal style, and guitar work.

Almabis is a capable guitarist in her own right and a painter; she is a born-again Christian and is married to Martin Honasan (the son of Sen. Gringo Honasan), a painter and scion of a Philippine political family. The couple named their firstborn Noa Stina. Her sister-in-law is Kai Honasan who does keyboards and vocals on the band Autotelic. She is also cousins with Pia and Risa Hontiveros.

In 2016, she was chosen to interpret Nica del Rosario's composition "Ambon" at the 2016 edition of Himig Handog: P-Pop Love Songs.

Parokya ni Edgar (lit: Edgar's Parish) is a Filipino band formed in 1993. The band is known for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs both foreign and local. The band is adept at playing in various musical genres.

Parokya ni Edgar has been referred to by local media outlets and numerous award-giving bodies as "Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas" ("The National Band of the Philippines").

Despite having "Edgar" in the band's name, none of the members are named Edgar.

The Itchyworms is a Filipino rock band. The band is composed of Jazz Nicolas on drums, Jugs Jugueta on guitars, Kelvin Yu on bass guitars and Chino Singson on lead guitars. The group made their name in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) scene in 2006 with their sophomore album, Noontime Show, with songs such as "Akin Ka Na Lang" and "Beer".

Formed in 1996, the band consisted of Jazz Nicolas, Jugs Jugueta, Kelvin Yu (then on lead guitar) and Hadrian "Haji" Cruz (then on bass). The band performed at various school-based events and competitions with a handful of original songs and Beatles covers. Unfortunately, communication and scheduling issues forced Cruz to leave the group. This predicament forced Yu to take up the bass guitar vacancy, effectively making the band a trio.

The group continued as a trio until the middle of 1997, when a common friend in the Ateneo Musicians' Pool recruited Chino Singson to play guitar with the group at a school event. Singson eventually went on to become a permanent member, which solidified the group's current lineup.

In 1998 the band put together Revenge of the Unsigned, their first official CD. They did this with the help of their manager, Earnest Mangulabnan-Zabala, the Eraserheads, Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala and Romel "Sancho" Sanchez (Loquy, Cynthia Alexander). The band intended for Revenge to be their independently-released debut album in the event that no major record label would sign them.

As luck would have it, then-A&R manager at Viva/Neo Records Mike Dizon (Teeth, Sandwich) got hold of Revenge. He helped push for Viva executives to sign the band and eventually release Little Monsters Under Your Bed.

Little Monsters, the band's first major-label album, was released in 2001 and contained songs from Revenge and new compositions by Nicolas and Jugueta. The song "Antipara" was probably the most well-known song on the album. The release of the album was deemed somewhat ill-timed, as its glossy pop-rock sound was an aberration in the Korn-influenced OPM Rock landscape of the late 1990s to early 2000s.

Zack Nimrod Tabudlo (born December 6, 2001) is a Filipino singer, songwriter and musician. He was first seen as a contestant on the first season of The Voice Kids under Bamboo Mañalac's mentorship, where he was eliminated in the competition's second round.[1] He later began his musical career in 2018 before he rose to fame in 2020 when he joined MCA Music (now UMG Philippines) through sub-label Island Records Philippines.

His debut single "Nangangamba" was released in 2020.[3] His song "Binibini", released in 2021, broke a record as the top local song on Spotify's Philippines charts. His debut album, Episode, was released on October 15, 2021. In 2022, Tabudlo became one of the artists in the newly-launched Republic Records Philippines label under UMG Philippines.

Freestyle is a pop/R&B band from the Philippines, currently a solo project of Top Suzara since 2022. The band was formed in 1996 and hit the mainstream in 1998, and is popular for the songs "Before I Let You Go", "So Slow", "This Time", "Till I Found You", "Para Sa 'Yo", "Once in a Lifetime", and their rendition of "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?".

The band was founded by former guitarist Tat Suzara in Davao City. Notable members include vocalists Jinky Vidal and Top Suzara, the band's primary songwriter, who left the band in 2011 and 2005 respectively and went on to have solo careers. Post-Freestyle, Vidal and Top Suzara had a reunion concert together in 2013. Other notable members were vocalists Joshua Desiderio, Mike Luis, Ava Santos, and drummer Gerald Banzon who were with the band until its final batch in 2022.

In mid-2022, after the final lineup disbanded, Top Suzara took over and continued the "Freestyle" brand as a solo project accompanied by session musicians. Suzara had his first comeback performance as Freestyle at 19 East in October 2022 in a sold-out gig. Suzara also trademarked "Freestyle" in the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) solely under his name. The IPO ruled that "Freestyle" is synonymous with the name Top Suzara and is deemed the rightful owner.

Daniel Zildjian Garon Benitez (born April 23, 1997), popularly known as Zild, is a Filipino musician, producer, and singer-songwriter. He is currently the lead vocalist, pianist/keyboardist, synth player and bassist of IV of Spades.

On August 13, 2016, Benitez joined a music competition named "Music Hero" in the noontime show Eat Bulaga!. He originally won the "Bass Hero" title, but due to IV of Spades' rise to fandom, he and his bandmate, Blaster Silonga, who also won the "Electric Guitar Hero" title, left their titles and gave it up.

On June 12, 2020, Benitez released the music video of "Sinungaling" on YouTube. Few weeks later, he also released "Dila", along with its music video on July 9, 2020.[9] On August 6, 2020, he released his debut solo album titled "Homework Machine". It features "Sinungaling" and "Dila" which were released beforehand.

Benitez signed an artist management contract with Rico Blanco's label/management Balcony Entertainment.

On February 10, 2021, Benitez released "Kyusi" with its music video on YouTube. Weeks later, he released "Apat" on February 25, he also revealed that "Kyusi" and "Apat" will be part of his upcoming album titled "Huminga", which was released on April 8, 2021.

According to his Spotify profile, Benitez started to produce his own songs using the isolation time from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In August 2022, Benitez officially signed with UMG Philippines thru Island Records Philippines label.
