JOSELITO Pascual, the Philippines’ most acclaimed classical and jazz-pop pianist, Hailed by many as one of the Philippines’ “musical treasures,” Pascual is a multi-talented performer whose extraordinary talent as a pianist had been evident early in his childhood. He began studying the piano at the age of five and won all available awards in various competitions held in the years that followed. At nine, he was the first prize winner of the coveted Children’s Museum and Library Inc. Piano Competition held nationwide. At age 10, he was the youngest winner of the Manila Symphony Society Piano Competition.
He has both performed with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and the Manila Symphony Orchestra. Aside from being an accomplished pianist, he has proven himself to be a multi-talented performer. He showed his mettle as a master showman when he co-hosted the multi-awarded Philippine television show, Uncle Bob and Friends from 1979-1985. As a recording artist, he has recorded eight albums with Octo-Arts-EMI Records, five of which were certified Gold Records. Before he came to the United States, he was a premiere attraction at the world-famous Manila Hotel, both as a solo performer and leader of his band.
Mr. Pascual has performed in concerts in Asia, including Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. He has also performed in other continents including Northern America (both in several cities in the US and in Canada).
Mr. Pascual is a multi-awarded artist, receiving four “Best Instrumentalist of the Year Award” from the prestigious Aliw Awards in the Philippines. In 2002, he was recognized by the City of Los Angeles for his contribution and commitment to promoting cultural and artistic growth in the great City through his musical talent and stellar performances enjoyed by many.
Among his recent performances include a greatly received and well attended concert at the Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles sponsored by UPMASA and one at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts last July 15, 2005 sponsored by Gawad Kalinga. He also performed for the UST Medical Alumni Foundation and PMASCA and for ABS-CBN International as part of the Centennial Celebration of the Filipino Pioneers in Hawaii. Pascual was also the guest pianist in Karim at Jasmin in 2007 and the musical director of the La Mirada production of the same Filipino musical opera. He also performed at the St. Louis Performing Arts last October 10, 2010; at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church last July 15, 2011 and at St. Justin Church last August 26, 2011.
An honor graduate in Music, Joselito was also an outstanding scholar from the Philippine Women’s University’s College of Music and Fine Arts.
